Boris received his PhD at the Weizmann Institute of Science, trained as a postdoc at Harvard Medical School, and subsequently served as a faculty at Columbia University and NYU. In 2025, he joined the University of Chicago as a professor of medicine and a director of the Center for Autoimmunity. His lab is studying mechanisms of immune system development, tolerance and autoimmunity, focusing primarily on dendritic cells. Studies in the lab helped elucidate the transcriptional control of DC lineage, including the differentiation and function of plasmacytoid dendritic cells, Notch2-dependent classical dendritic cells, and most recently, migratory dendritic cells.
